Claire Thai

Claire Thai is an internationally recognized harpist, most recently having won a prestigious Anne Adams Award, Lyon and Healy Award, 1st place at the Suoni d’Arpa competition in Italy, and 1st place at the International Portuguese harp competition. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance from the Curtis Institute of Music, and is continuing her education at Curtis in the Master’s program. Claire is also a composer, and was recently commissioned by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra to compose and premiere a harp concerto, as well as perform the Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp.

Other notable performances include the Ginastera Harp Concerto with the Phoenix Symphony, the Renie Harp Concerto with the Tucson Symphony, the Debussy Danses Sacree et Profane and the Ravel Introduction and Allegro with the National Repertory Orchestra. She was a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival in 2021 and a fellow at the National Repertory Orchestra in 2022.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Claire began study of the harp at age 5 and piano at age 4. She has worked with world-renowned harpists including Elizabeth Hainen, Dr. Carrol McGlaughlin, Lynne Aspnes, Emmanuel Ceysson, and Nancy Allen. In addition to music, she enjoys working with computers, and her three beloved Shih Tzus.
